Gökçe finds interdisciplinary work very exciting, especially the intersection of policy and creativity. She has spent enough time in academia and consulting to dedicate the last 25 years to learning design.
Gökçe did her undergraduate and graduate studies in economics and business administration at Istanbul and Innsbruck University and completed her PhD. with the support of Copenhagen Business School Art & Leadership Center, on the relationship between art and management at Istanbul University.
Between 2004-2006, she worked as a consultant to leading companies in Turkey on strategic management and scenario techniques. Since 2006, she has been designing and conducting participatory meetings for NGOs, artist initiatives, national and international artist support and cultural policy programs and women entrepreneurship programs.
She conducted her post-doctoral studies at the Center for Arts Policy Research at Princeton University’s School of Public Policy with a TÜBİTAK fellowship and subsequently became an Associate Professor. In 2022, she completed 16 years of academic and administrative duties at Istanbul Bilgi University and later worked as a faculty member in Sharjah and Berlin.
Gökçe is a member of the International Association of Art Critics (AICA), in the past he has served as YEKON consultant, İBB Istanbul Planning Agency Vision 2050 Cultural Policy Working Group Member and İBB UNESCO City of Design consultant. She is currently the academic advisor to the Theater Cooperative and Turkey Jazz Network and contributes to the Arts & Culture Commission of Istanbul Tourism Platform established by the Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality. In addition to her advocacy work on the UNESCO Diversity of Cultural Expression 2005 Convention, she has supported the National Committee as a member of the Digitalization Sub-Working Group of the Expertise Committee on the Diversity of Cultural Expressions. She continues to contribute as a writer, editor and mentor in national and international networks for her research on innovation and sustainability in creative fields, especially in art and design, creative industries and creative entrepreneurship. She was selected as the only expert from Türkiye for the UNESCO/EU Culture2030 Cultural Indicators study.
She is working as a Key Expert in the ‘Capacity Building for the Proper Transformation of the Creative Economy in Türkiye’ project of August 2023 and supporting ‘Ortaklaşa’ project with participatory methods as of April 2024.
